Not all the publications on our site are translated, therefore our search returns results in both languages to ensure all relevant information is presented.
Many of referenced journal articles are behind paywalls and therefore cannot be indexed by our site. As a results we cannot return results based on terms within the referenced publications. In those cases we recommend using the source provided for that article.
Basic Search
The default behaviour is to AND terms in the search field. This means if you put more than one term separated by spaces the results be items that have both of those terms. If you want one OR the other you would perform two separate searches.
Including AND or OR in the search box will include them in the search, they will not act as logic.
Example: Find all items that include both the term child AND governance.

Exact String
To find an exact string of words, enclose those words in quotes.
Example: Find all items with the exact phrase child governance.
"child governance"
Exclude a term
To exclude a term from being returned use - directly next to the term to exclude that word.
Example: Find all items that include the word child but do NOT include the term governance.
child -governance
Excluding multiple terms
To exclude more than one term add each negated word into the search query field.
Example: Find all items that include the word child but do NOT include the term governance AND NOT the term care.
child -governance -care
Excluding an exact string
To exclude an exact string combine both concepts above, first enclose the string in quotes, then add a - in front of the string. This concept can be extended to excluding multiple string by using the same technique as excluding multiple terms.
Example: Find all items that include the word child but do NOT include the phrase primary care.

Advanced Search
Once you have performed a basic search you will be presented with an option to further refine your results using advanced options. These are filters for language, content type and region.
Example: Find all publications that include the phrase child governance in english.
First, Enter your search phrase and click Search

Second, select English from the Language drop down, Select Publication from the Content Type drop down and click Search.
